One major is mandatory helmet has a layer thickness of polystyrene with a level of 2.5 cm. This layer serves to reduce impacts when accidents.

Furthermore helmet must also undergo another examination with refrigerated at a temperature of -10 degrees centigrade and directly heated at a temperature of 50 degrees centigrade. After that, helmets soaked in water for 12 hours to find out how the state of the helmet when in race conditions. This is called the Flame Resistance Test.

Other tests must be passed helmet is the impact test in which the helmet is dropped from a distance of 2.5 meters but with a speed of 20.8 km / h plus a falls on a metal surface. While the final test called Positional Stability (Roll-Off) related to the strength tests that ensure the helmet strap pengamam not quit when the driver fell.

The tests above are just some tests that must pass before they can wear racing helmets. In total there are seven tests that are comprised of Impact Test, Positional Stability (Roll-Off) Test, Dynamic Retention Test, Chin Bar Test, Shell Penetration Test, Faceshield Penetration Test and Flame Resistance Test.

If you've passed all the requirements, a helmet certainly ready to be used in the MotoGP event.

Helmets SPECIAL WHEN RAIN

Only this time the helmet was not merely a safety device because it also serves to recognize the drivers. It was like an identity card, all drivers should have a minimum of four "ID card" for each series.

Indeed FIM has set certain standards for helmets to be worn in the arena of MotoGP racer, but for the sake of improving the safety guarantee every driver must have at least four helmet for each series.

Three of them are ordinary helmet, while the helmet is used when it rains.
